If you’re curious about anal toys but don’t fancy starting with anything too intimidating, a vibrating butt plug can be a surprisingly good place to begin. In this Lovehoney Butt Tingler vibrating butt plug review, we’ll cover what it’s like to use, how powerful the vibrations are, and whether it’s actually worth buying.
Butt plugs (like the Lovehoney Butt Tingler) are designed to create a feeling of fullness and extra stimulation during solo play, foreplay or penetrative sex. They stimulate nerve-rich areas internally, and when vibrations are added into the mix things can get very interesting very quickly.
Whatever your anatomy, butt plugs (like the Lovehoney Butt Tingler vibrating butt plug) are used to enhance foreplay or sex. Much like prostate massagers, which are obviously for those with prostates, butt plugs – vibrating or otherwise – get lubed up and go up your butt to hit new spots, and give a feeling of fullness.
However, you’re probably not here for a general lecture on anal toys – you’re here to find out whether the Lovehoney Butt Tingler vibrating butt plug is actually any good.
Lovehoney Butt Tingler Butt Plug Review
We purchased the Lovehoney Butt Tingler after an incident with a standard round based butt plug (you know, the silicone kind with jewels at the base) that disappeared during a bit of rigorous sex. Oopsie. Fortunately I, being the quick-thinking sort, managed to retrieve before it was lost forever, or at least until a very embarrassing visit to A&E to retrieve it.

With the Lovehoney Butt Tingler there are absolutely no worries about it disappearing where it shouldn’t thanks to the T-shaped flared base. The neck of the plug is slightly wider than some others we’ve tried, which is likely to accommodate the removable vibrating bullet.
Because the neck and plug aren’t dramatically different in width, it did once pop out during particularly enthusiastic activity – but frankly we’d both rather it came out than went further in.
Also, the vibrations seem to add something to the experience.
The only real drawback of the Lovehoney Butt Tingler is that it’s definitely haunted.
I’m not sure whose soul has been trapped, doomed to forever inhabit this vibrating butt plug and experience the joy of being inside someone’s fundament for the rest of time, but twice now they’ve decided to mess with us by turning the vibrator on unbidden, including at 2.30 this morning.

Don’t get me wrong, we certainly aren’t prudes, but the idea of a 16th century highwayman paying for his sins by living in the bedside drawer until called upon is mildly off-putting. As is my (very rational) fear that I may wake one day to find myself tied to the bed, and the Lovehoney Butt Tingler vibrating butt plug inching itself toward me like in The Ring.
Lovehoney Butt Tingler Vibrating Butt Plug: Features
This four inch silicone vibrating butt plug is the ‘medium’ aimed at ‘intermediate’ anal players, whatever those are. But in my opinion, it’s a fairly good size. Not too big, not too small – the goldilocks of vibrating butt plug sizes, if you will. However I know these things are entirely dependent on anatomy and you can also get a 3.5 inch and a 4.5 inch version.
It has a removable bullet vibrator which nestles into the neck of the buttplug, and has 3 vibration speeds and 7 patterns for a range of sensations. The vibrations are something you really need to try for yourself to see if you like it. If you give it a try and you’re not a huge fan, it’s still a decently proportioned butt plug at a good price.

The vibrator needs one AAA battery, not supplied, which you should replace regularly if you don’t want to be woken up in the middle of the night by phantom vibrations.
The T-shaped flared base is rigid and definitely won’t disappear up your bum. Comfort wise, it’s tapered so it goes in easily and is comfortable to wear. You might shoot it out of your butt at orgasm, but there are worse things that could happen.
Finally, it’s waterproof, so you can get down to butt stuff in the shower or bath (although don’t ask me how).
The only downside is perhaps that the end – where the battery goes and the button is – sticks out about a centimetre, so it isn’t much good for penetrative sex as it gets in the way.
However, it’s well priced and for beginners looking for an affordable vibrating butt plug, the Lovehoney Butt Tingler is a solid option.
