I’ll be honest, I’ve not been blown away by every male masturbator we’ve tested.
Some are fine. Some are impressive in theory. Some make a lot of noise, create a lot of mess, and then leave me thinking I could probably have achieved the same result with less faff and fewer suspicious sounds coming from the bedroom. And some are just absolutely pointless.
Having felt a bit let down by the Arcwave Zing vibrating sleeve, I didn’t have especially high hopes, but I am happy to report that the Arcwave Orbit is a male masturbator I actually really liked. Hurrah!
What Is The Arcwave Orbit?
The Orbit is an automatic rotating male masturbator, which basically means it twists around your cock instead of vibrating, sucking or pretending to be a mouth.
There is no thrusting, no vibration and no real suction function. When it is well lubed, the textured sleeve can create a bit of a vacuum, so there is some suction in the sense that it grips around you, but the main sensation is rotation. And that rotation works.
First Impressions
Much like the Arcwave Pow manual sleeve, the Arcwave Orbit is quite discreet for a male toy. It comes in a storage case, which makes it much easier to put away without it looking like you have a full robotic wank machine sitting in a drawer.
Even out of the case, it does not look particularly obvious, and at first glance you would probably mistake it for a camera lens or some sort of gadget. It does not have that Fleshlight-style look, and is not shaped like a body part, which helps. Oh, and it’s USB-C chargeable, which gains it brownie points.
The sound is also better than I expected. It is not silent or even quiet, but it does not have that obvious sex toy noise that some suction toys have. If someone heard it from another room, you could probably pass it off as a DIY tool, like a small sander. Whether that is reassuring or ridiculous probably depends on how much DIY you normally do.
How The Arcwave Orbit Feels To Use
The Orbit uses a 360 degree rotating motion rather than a full stroking motion. The internal length – which is made of silicone and textured on the inside – measures 4.5 inches, so you do not go all the way into it like you would with a Fleshlight or a full sleeve, and it covers about half to two thirds of your cock.
That gives it a different feel to a traditional masturbator. It is more focused, and because it does not cover everything, I think you could potentially pair it with another toy like a cock ring, which might add to the sensations. I could also see this kind of toy working well combined with a butt plug or prostate massager.
The big thing with the Orbit is lube; you need a lot of water-based lube to use this toy. This is not a toy where you can use a polite little amount and hope for the best.
When it is well lubed, it creates a decent seal around you and rotates smoothly and feels very good. The rotation is consistent, and because the toy is doing the work, you can just let the sensation build rather than having to control everything yourself.
Without enough lube, however, it starts twisting your willy instead. This is quite funny for about two seconds before you realise it might keep going further than you would like. To be fair, it did stop at the point where it could not go any further without hurting, but still. Use the lube. This is not the time to be economical.
Controls And Settings
The Arcwave Orbit has just three buttons; on/mode select, left and right. There are four control modes: Manual (active mode), Speed Select, Autopilot and Intense.
The A button turns it on and off, and then you hold the control buttons to start the rotation. Press harder for faster rotation speed. Press the A button again to change the mode; this is indicated by the LED changing colour.
I liked the LED colours because they make it easy to tell what mode or setting you are on. That sounds like a small thing, but once you have lube on your hands, everything becomes more difficult. You do not want to be trying to remember how many times you pressed a button or work out whether you are on the same setting you liked five minutes ago.
The pressure-sensitive control is a good feature too. The harder you press, the faster it spins, so you can control the intensity without constantly clicking through settings. I liked that because it makes the toy feel more responsive. You can ease into it or push it harder without having to stop and fiddle around too much.
That said, as with any toy involving lube, things can get slippery. At one point I accidentally gripped the bottom part of the toy and the top part started spinning round comically. I do not think that was quite the slick, sexy moment Arcwave had in mind, but it was funny.
Why Automatic Toys Feel Different
The Orbit has helped me appreciate automatic toys a bit more. After a few disappointing or ‘meh’ experiences, I was starting to think that mid-range automatic male masturbators just weren’t really for me. They worked, technically, but they never felt good enough to make me choose them over a normal sleeve or even my hand.
The Orbit felt different. With a manual sleeve, you are controlling the speed, pressure and movement yourself. Once you can feel yourself getting close, you naturally start chasing the orgasm, and it tends to arrive pretty quickly.
With the Orbit, you don’t. You can just lie there and let the toy keep rotating, which creates a different type of build-up. It is slower, but more intense, and that was probably the biggest difference for me. It is not just that the Orbit rotates. It is that the automatic movement changes the way the orgasm builds.
App Control
The Arcwave Orbit can connect to the KooSync app via Bluetooth. According to Lovehoney, this lets you sync the rotation with interactive video content or use it for long-distance play.
I have not downloaded or tried the app. I can see why it might appeal if you are into interactive content or want to use it with a partner remotely, but for me, the main appeal was the toy itself. I liked the rotation and the pressure-sensitive control more than the idea of connecting it to videos, but the app does give you another option if that is your thing.
Personally, I am more interested in whether the toy works well when you are using it normally, and in this case, it does.
Cleaning The Arcwave Orbit
Cleaning it afterwards is very easy, which is always a bonus.
The sleeve detaches from the motor section, so you can remove it and rinse it properly. The sleeve is waterproof, but the device itself is not, so you should not submerge the whole thing in water. Take the sleeve off, clean that with warm water and unscented soap or toy cleaner, then let everything dry properly before putting it back in the case.
Compared to some male masturbators, it is much less annoying to clean. Anything that does not leave you standing at the sink regretting your choices gets points from me.
What I Liked

- I liked the pressure-sensitive control because it gives you more control over the speed.
- I liked the LED colours because they make it easier to know what setting you are on.
- I liked that it did not sound like an obvious suction toy.
- I liked that it looked discreet in its case, and even fairly discreet out of it.
- I liked that it was easy to clean.
- Most importantly, I liked using it, which is more than I can say for some of the other male toys we’ve tried.
What I Didn’t Like
You need plenty of lube. That is not really a flaw, because this kind of toy was always going to need lube, but it is important. Not enough lube and the sensation goes from smooth rotation to unexpected cock-twisting, which is not ideal.
It can also get slippery and slightly chaotic once your hands are covered in lube. The controls are good, but lube has a way of making everything feel about 40% more complicated.
I also would not say it feels realistic, but I do not think that is the point. It is not trying to feel like sex or oral. It is doing its own rotating thing.
Arcwave Orbit Vs Other Male Toys
I preferred this to the One Suction Stroker, the Blowmotion Warming Vibrating Masturbator and the Blowmotion Suction Vibrating Masturbator. I also liked it a lot more than the Arcwave Zing, which really didn’t do a lot for me.
The Orbit felt more effective because the rotation created a more consistent sensation. It also felt less ridiculous to use, which helps.
Compared to a traditional manual masturbator like my favourite Fleshlight and TENGA Flip sleeves, it is a different experience. A sleeve gives you more control because you are doing the movement yourself. The Orbit is more about lying back and letting the toy do the work. That means the orgasm can build more slowly and intensely, rather than rushing you straight to the finish.
I would not say it replaces a good sleeve, because it is not trying to do the same thing. It is an automatic, focused, rotating toy that gives a different type of sensation.
Final Verdict On The Arcwave Orbit
I am glad to say that I actually really liked the Arcwave Orbit.
It works well and delivers a very good orgasm with no work required. The rotation is not something you are likely to experience during sex unless your partner is enormously acrobatic, but as a toy sensation, it works.
The automatic movement created a slower, more intense build-up than I usually get from a manual sleeve, and that was the main appeal for me. Instead of controlling the pace myself, I could just let it keep going.
It is also easy to clean, fairly discreet, and much less obvious-sounding than some of the loud suction toys. In its case, it does not look especially suspicious, and even out of the case it looks more like a camera lens than a male masturbator.
You do need to be generous with the lube unless you fancy a brief and alarming twisting incident, but overall, this is one of the better male toys I have tried and I will definitely use it again.
Price-wise, at £129.99/$149.99 it’s neither the cheapest nor the most expensive masturbator I’ve tested, and it does represent a significant investment.
