The Arcwave Zing is a premium vibrating male masturbator from Arcwave, the same brand family as Womanizer and We-Vibe, so I went into this with fairly high expectations. Their products are usually well designed, well made and priced accordingly. At full price, the Zing costs around £120 in the UK and $150 in the US, which means it needs to do more than politely buzz near a penis and hope everyone claps.
On paper, it sounds clever. It has an open-sleeve design, two vibrating motors, strong vibrations and is made from silicone rather than TPE, which makes it much easier to clean. It is not trying to be a Fleshlight, and it is not trying to be an automatic masturbator. It is very much its own thing.
If you enjoy vibration directly on your penis, slow sensation-focused play, edging, watching porn or being watched by a partner, I can see how the Arcwave Zing could be fun.
If, however, you mostly enjoy good old-fashioned thrusting, friction and that satisfying in-and-out sensation that sex provides, I do not think this is going to be your dream toy.

What Is The Arcwave Zing?
The Arcwave Zing is a rechargeable vibrating male masturbator with an open-sleeve design.
Unlike a traditional stroker, it does not fully enclose the penis. Instead, it wraps around the shaft, with two motors delivering vibration from either side. An adjustable rubber band, which I initially mistook for a wristband because apparently I now live in a world where sex toy accessories and festival merch are indistinguishable, allows you to tighten or loosen the fit.
It offers 10 vibration patterns, 10 intensity levels, a rechargeable battery, a waterproof design, an adjustable fit, soft silicone, hands-free use and an open, easy-clean construction.
The focus here is not realism. Arcwave is not trying to recreate penetrative sex in the same way as a stroker, like their Pow model, does. This is not a fake vagina, butt or mouth in a discreet black tube. The Zing is all about vibration, pressure and targeted stimulation.
First Impressions
First impressions were excellent. The packaging feels premium, the toy itself feels premium, and it comes with a nice neoprene zip-up storage case rather than the usual sad drawstring bag that immediately vanishes into the sex toy drawer like a tiny satin ghost.
The silicone is soft, the toy feels reassuringly well made, and you can immediately tell where some of that £120 price tag has gone. It is also surprisingly compact compared with many male masturbators, making it discreet, easy to store and unlikely to take up half a bedside drawer.
It is also fairly quiet. Not silent, obviously, because very few vibrating toys are unless they are switched off and lying dramatically in a drawer, but there is no loud mechanical thrusting noise or alarming suction racket. Just a low vibrating hum.
What Did The Arcwave Zing Feel Like?
The short version is: not unpleasant, but not especially exciting either.
The vibrations are strong, rumbly and deep, the silicone feels nice, and there are plenty of settings to experiment with. You can use the band to make it tighter or use your hand to squeeze and change the pressure depending on what feels best.
But during testing, it never really felt like it was doing enough. My initial impression was that it was a ‘posh wank’. After using it again during partnered play, I think even that may have been slightly generous.
The sensation was not bad. It was not uncomfortable. It was not irritating. It just did not seem to add very much for me, which is disappointing when you are talking about a pretty expensive toy.
If you are someone who loves vibration on your penis, and you have experimented in the past with vibrators or maybe a magic wand and found that it enhances your orgasm, this may land very differently. But if your idea of a good male masturbator involves thrusting, friction, rhythm and that enclosed stroker sensation that mimics sexual intercourse, this probably is not it.
Can You Use The Arcwave Zing As A Stroker?
Sort of, and it is on the box, but I do not think that is really where it shines.
Because the Arcwave Zing has an open design, you can grip it and move it up and down the shaft if you want to, depending on the size of your penis.

However, it does not behave like a traditional stroker. It does not fully enclose the penis, it does not give that same internal pressure, and it does not create the same smooth, thrusting sensation.
You also need a lot of lube if you want to use it that way. Without enough lube, it drags. With enough lube, it is better, but still not especially exciting as a stroker. It feels like you are trying to make the Zing do a job it was never really meant to do.
If you want thrusting, get a stroker like the Arcwave Pow or a classic Fleshlight. If you want vibration, then maybe consider the Zing.
A Quick Note About Testing
One thing worth mentioning is that I am probably not the ideal candidate for a toy like this. I am uncircumcised, naturally quite sensitive, do not struggle to get or stay hard, do not have difficulty orgasming during partnered sex, and do not have any issues with reduced sensitivity or what is often referred to as death grip syndrome.
As a result, many male sex toys are not solving a problem for me. They are competing with something that already works perfectly well. For someone who wants strong, targeted vibration because traditional stroking is not quite enough, the Zing may be much more interesting.
What Do Other Reviews Say?
The reviews for the Arcwave Zing are interesting because, much like the Blowmotion toys we tested, they seem to split between lots of glowing 5-star reviews and a smaller but very clear cluster of 1-star reviews from people who basically say it did absolutely nothing for them.
The most positive reviews tend to come from people who specifically want something different from sex or traditional stroking. Some mention erectile dysfunction, reduced sensitivity or difficulty orgasming, and for a few of them the Zing seems to have been genuinely game-changing.
But then you get the other side: people saying it is a complete waste of money, that it does not feel intense enough, or that it simply does nothing. I can understand that too. The Arcwave Zing seems to work brilliantly for some bodies and barely at all for others. Unfortunately, I was much closer to the ‘is this doing anything?’ camp than the ‘game changer’ camp.
Cleaning And Build Quality
Because the design is completely open, there are no awkward internal chambers to scrub out afterwards. Simply wash it with warm water and toy cleaner, dry it and put it back in its case. Compared to many enclosed strokers, it is refreshingly hassle-free, although the silicone does pick up fluff and cat hair pretty easily.
That said, if you use it as a stroker, you will probably use a lot more lube, which does make the whole thing messier. Still easier than cleaning an enclosed masturbator, but not quite as effortless as the open design might suggest.
I do not have a bad word to say about the physical quality of the Arcwave Zing. The silicone feels nice, the controls are simple and responsive, the vibrations are strong, and the overall finish is exactly what I would expect from a premium manufacturer. The storage case is useful too, and Arcwave products come with a two-year warranty.
Who Is The Arcwave Zing For?
I think the Arcwave Zing is most likely to suit:
- Men who actively enjoy vibration on the penis, especially if you have tried it with a partner’s vibrator or a magic wand and already know it works for you
- Men who like slow, sensation-focused masturbation, edging or longer solo sessions
- People who want targeted vibration rather than thrusting
- People who find traditional stroking a bit boring or ineffective
- Men with reduced sensitivity or erectile dysfunction who want a different kind of stimulation
- People who want a sensation that feels different from sex rather than something that mimics it
- People who hate cleaning enclosed strokers and want something easier to wash
- People who need something quieter than a mechanical or automatic masturbator
Basically, if slow vibrating penis stimulation sounds like your idea of a lovely afternoon, crack on.
Who Should Skip The Arcwave Zing?
You might want to skip the Arcwave Zing if:
- You prefer thrusting and want something that mimics penetrative sex
- You are looking for a Fleshlight-style stroker
- You want an automatic masturbator that moves for you
- You need strong friction rather than vibration to orgasm
- You usually masturbate quickly and straightforwardly
- You are already very sensitive and do not need extra stimulation
- You are buying on a tight budget
- You do not already know that you enjoy vibration on your penis
This is the big thing for me: I would be cautious about spending £120 on the Zing unless you already know that penile vibration works for you. If you want a stroker, buy a stroker. Tenga make some great ones if the Fleshlight brand is not for you. If you want thrusting, buy something designed for thrusting. If you want an automatic masturbator, buy an automatic masturbator. The Zing is none of those things.
Final Verdict
The Arcwave Zing is well made, easy to clean, compact, quiet, waterproof and clearly designed with care. It feels premium, looks premium and comes from a brand family with a good reputation, but for me, the sensation did not justify the price.
It is a shame, because there is nothing obviously wrong with it. It is not badly designed and it did not feel unpleasant. It did not fail mechanically. It just did not do enough to get me over the edge.
If you already know you love vibration on your penis, the Arcwave Zing may be worth a look.
But if you want a satisfying stroker, realistic sensation, strong friction or good old-fashioned thrusting, I would look to something else, like a Fleshlight stroker or the Arcwave Orbit rotating masturbator which I found to be a much better experience.
The Arcwave Zing is not a bad toy. It is just a very expensive toy with a very specific use case. Unless that use case is exactly what you are looking for, I am not convinced it is £120 well spent.
