Here’s how the wand vibrators I’ve tested compare in more detail.

Lovense Domi 2 – Best Overall Wand Vibrator

The Lovense Domi 2 is the wand I recommend most overall because it gives you an excellent balance of power, size and practicality.

It is seriously strong, with deep, rumbly vibrations that outperform most rechargeable wands I’ve tried, but it is still compact and lightweight enough to use comfortably during sex. You also avoid the faff of being tethered to a mains socket.

The controls are excellent, with separate up and down buttons rather than forcing you to cycle endlessly through settings. It also connects to the Lovense app, where you can fine-tune the intensity, create patterns, set a maximum power level, sync it with media and hand control over to a partner.

It isn’t the quietest wand I’ve tested, and it can get warm during longer sessions, but for me those are fairly minor compromises considering how much power you get from such a small rechargeable toy.

If you want one wand that does almost everything well, this is the one I’d choose.

We-Vibe Wand 2 – Best Cushioned Powerful Wand

The We-Vibe Wand 2 is an big, chunky rechargeable wand that looks rather like a horse’s hoof. Fortunately, it’s also extremely powerful, with deep, rumbly vibrations that rival the Lovense Domi 2.

Its generously padded silicone head spreads the vibrations over a broader area, making it a good alternative if you find the Domi 2 a little too aggressive. It’s fully waterproof, has ten onboard intensity levels and includes Smart Silence, which automatically stops the vibrations when you lift it away from your body.

The downsides? It’s considerably bigger and heavier than the Domi 2, and much more vibration travels into the handle. It’s not especially quiet either, although both are considerably less noisy than traditional mains-powered wands.

I also found the We-Vibe app excellent for local control, but couldn’t get the long-distance connection working. If remote partner play is important, I’d choose Lovense instead.

I genuinely like the Wand 2, but the smaller, cheaper Domi 2 remains my overall favourite. However, if you want a powerful wand with a softer head, full waterproofing and plenty of physical controls, the We-Vibe Wand 2 is well worth considering.

Lovehoney Classic Mains Powered Magic Wand – Best Budget Mains Option

The Lovehoney Classic Magic Extra Powerful Wand is one of the most affordable mains-powered wand vibrators I’ve tested. It’s simple to use, with one sliding control, and the flexible head makes it easy to position during solo or partnered sex.

It is powerful. Properly powerful. For the price, the vibrations are impressively strong and consistent.

The downsides are fairly predictable for a cheap mains-powered wand. It’s corded, it’s loud, and the grooved head takes a little more effort to clean than a smooth silicone one.

It is also very definitely not waterproof. I know this because I once managed to kill one by washing it in a way that was, in hindsight, ambitious. Learn from my mistakes.

Pixey Deluxe Wireless Wand – Powerful Rechargeable Wand

The Pixey Deluxe Wireless Wand gives you much of the strength of a mains-powered wand without being permanently tethered to the wall. It lasts for around 40 minutes on a full charge, and if the battery runs out, you can continue using it while it charges.

It’s easier to manoeuvre than a corded wand and works particularly well if you want something powerful for longer sessions, edging or partnered play. The strong motor also makes it a good option if you find smaller rechargeable vibrators underwhelming.

Mine eventually gave up on life, which is worth mentioning if durability is high on your list of priorities.

It also isn’t particularly quiet. If you need a discreet wand for a shared house or thin walls, this would not be my first choice.

If you want a powerful rechargeable wand and don’t mind paying more for the extra flexibility, the Pixey Deluxe remains a strong option.

Doxy Extra Powerful Wand – Strongest Motor

The Doxy Extra Powerful Wand is one of the most powerful wand vibrators I’ve tested.

And yes, it is intense. Deep, heavy, unapologetic power. It will blow your socks off, if you wear them to bed like a weirdo. If smaller vibrators usually leave you underwhelmed, the Doxy is unlikely to disappoint.

The trade-offs are obvious. It is mains powered, although the 2.8m cord gives you a bit more freedom, and it is not remotely subtle. It is also loud.

Mine eventually died. Twice.

Lovehoney replaced it both times without quibbling, which is why I’m still comfortable recommending it despite the durability issue. The Doxy itself is excellent, and the customer service was equally good.

If raw strength is your priority and you don’t mind the cord or the noise, this is still the strongest wand I’ve personally tested.

MYLO Rechargeable Wand – Best Versatile Wand

The MYLO rechargeable pleasure wand is probably the prettiest wand vibrator I’ve tested, but there is more to it than looking good.

Unlike a traditional wand with one vibrating head, the MYLO has three separate stimulation zones which can be controlled independently. You can use the large rounded head like a normal wand, the smaller end for more targeted stimulation, or the central section internally. You can also combine them, which makes it much more versatile than a standard wand vibrator.

The vibrations are strong and rumbly, although it doesn’t have the raw power of the Domi 2 or the big mains-powered wands. It is rechargeable, waterproof and impressively quiet, and the entire toy is covered in soft-touch silicone.

It also comes in five colours and genuinely looks like someone put some thought into the design rather than simply attaching a vibrating ball to a handle.

If you want maximum power, I’d choose the Domi 2. But if you want a more unusual wand sex toy with multiple ways to use it and three separately controlled areas of vibration, the MYLO stands out.

LELO Switch – Best Wand For G-Spot Stimulation

The LELO Switch is one of the most unusual wand vibrators I’ve tested because it doubles as a proper internal G-spot vibrator.

With a press of the centre button, the vibrations switch from the wand head to the curved shaft, so you can use it for broad external stimulation or insert it for targeted internal vibration. It feels much more intentionally designed for internal use than most wand attachments or hybrid toys.

Like most LELO toys, the build quality is excellent. The Switch is fully waterproof, rechargeable and covered in smooth body-safe silicone. It is also considerably quieter than the Domi 2 and the big mains-powered wands.

The vibrations are strong and deep rather than buzzy, although it does not quite have the raw power of the Domi 2 or Doxy.

If you want a wand vibrator that also works genuinely well for G-spot stimulation, rather than simply offering another external vibration point, the LELO Switch is the best option I’ve tested.

Rocks Off Oriel – Best Budget Rechargeable Wand

The Rocks Off Oriel is a good option if you want a rechargeable wand without spending much.

It’s lightweight, easy to hold and noticeably more portable than the larger mains-powered models. It also has a small landing light to help you find the controls under the covers, which is a genuinely useful little feature.

The trade-off is power. The Oriel is perfectly decent, but it is not in the same league as the Domi 2, Doxy or Lovehoney Classic. If you know you need very strong stimulation, you may find it a bit underwhelming.

For under £50, though, it is a solid rechargeable wand and a good choice if you want something simple, portable and affordable.

Wand Vibrator Vs Clitoral Suction Toy

Wand vibrators and clitoral suction toys can both be excellent for external stimulation, but they feel very different.

What To Look For When Choosing a Wand Vibrator

Corded or rechargeable: Mains-powered wand vibrators usually offer the most consistent power, but rechargeable models are much easier to move around, travel with and use during sex.

Vibration strength: Not all wands are equally powerful. If smaller vibrators already feel too weak, look for a wand with deep, rumbly vibrations rather than lots of novelty patterns.

Noise: The strongest wand is not necessarily the best wand if you cannot comfortably use it where you live. Some mains-powered models are extremely loud, while newer rechargeable wands can be surprisingly discreet.

Size and weight: Traditional magic wands can be large and heavy. Compact models like the Domi 2 are much easier to hold for longer sessions and generally easier to use with a partner.

Waterproofing: A waterproof wand is easier to clean and can be used in the bath or shower. Splashproof does not mean waterproof, which is worth remembering before enthusiastically putting one under the tap.

The original Hitachi Magic Wand is now simply called the Magic Wand, although plenty of people still know and search for it by its old name.
