I’ve tested and compared quite a few wand vibrators over the years, and my two current favourites are the Lovense Domi 2 and the LELO Switch. The Domi 2 is my go-to when I want serious power, while the Switch is quieter, waterproof and a bit more versatile thanks to its double-ended design.

I’ve seen the We-Vibe Wand 2 mentioned as an alternative so got hold of one to review. My thoughts? Well, for starters, it’s enormous. It’s chunky, heavy and looks rather like a horse’s hoof. Not necessarily the aesthetic I was expecting from a premium sex toy, but here we are.

Fortunately, there’s considerably more to it than its unusual appearance. The Wand 2 is powerful, rechargeable, fully waterproof and has a generously padded silicone head, ten intensity levels and a clever Smart Silence feature.

I’ve tried plenty of We-Vibe toys over the years, with mixed experiences of the app, so I was particularly interested to see how this one compared with my favourites.

What’s In The Box?

We-Vibe Wand 2 in box

Not a great deal, frankly. You get the Wand 2, a magnetic USB charging cable and the instructions. That’s it. No storage bag or attachments, which feels a little stingy for a premium-priced wand, particularly as the original We-Vibe Wand included attachments.

The magnetic charger is the familiar type used by several other We-Vibe toys, including my Nova 2 and Chorus. I’ve collected enough of these chargers over the years to open a small electrical shop, so it’s handy that I can use one I already have.

We-Vibe advertises up to two hours of use per charge, with charging taking approximately two and a half hours.

Design And Comfort

Head of the We-Vibe Wand 2 (review)

The Wand 2 is substantially bigger and heavier than both the Domi 2 and LELO Switch. It feels well made, with a smooth silicone covering and a generously padded head, but there’s no disguising its size.

The head is unusually shaped, with a broad, blunt surface and narrower curved edges. There’s also a flexible neck, although the Domi 2 actually has more movement here, despite its smaller size.

You can experiment with the different surfaces to find the sensation you prefer. The blunt end and sides feel slightly different, but personally, I think the Wand 2 works best held between the legs with the buttons facing upwards, allowing the broadest part of the head to make contact.

The silicone padding makes the head noticeably softer than the Domi 2’s, which is a definite advantage if you find powerful wands a little too aggressive. Unfortunately, quite a lot of vibration also travels into the handle. This is one area where the Domi 2 does a much better job, and it’s particularly noticeable at higher intensities.

The Wand 2 is IPX7 waterproof, so you can use it in the bath or shower, unlike the splashproof Domi 2. It’s also very easy to clean with warm water and mild soap, which is fortunate because, like practically every silicone toy in my house, it attracts dog hair.

How Powerful Is The We-Vibe Wand 2?

Very. The Wand 2 produces deep, rumbly vibrations that are roughly comparable in strength to the Lovense Domi 2, and certainly enough to give you a speedy and satisfying clitoral orgasm with or without penetration, although the sensation is slightly different.

How Powerful Is The We-Vibe Wand 2?

The Domi delivers more concentrated stimulation, whereas the We-Vibe’s padded head diffuses the vibrations over a broader area. It’s not necessarily less powerful, just softer against the body, which I actually rather like.

If you’ve found the Domi 2 too intense or aggressive, the Wand 2 could be a very good alternative. However, the padding doesn’t completely eliminate overstimulation. I still experienced some numbness after prolonged use, as I have with other powerful wands. Don’t worry; it is most likely temporary!

According to We-Vibe, the Wand 2 has ten intensity levels, although the differences between them aren’t always obvious. Levels five and six seemed very similar, with a more noticeable increase around the seventh press. That’s not necessarily a criticism, though. Small adjustments can make a surprising difference during use, even if they’re difficult to distinguish when clicking through the settings.

I’ve no reason to doubt We-Vibe’s claims, and personally, I tend to use powerful wands on their highest setting anyway. The Wand 2 certainly delivers enough power for me.

One interesting difference is that its lowest setting is considerably gentler than the Domi 2’s, giving you a wider range of intensity without having to connect to an app.

Is The We-Vibe Wand 2 Quiet?

It’s reasonably quiet for something this powerful, but I wouldn’t describe it as discreet, and certainly not whisper quiet. There’s very little difference between the Wand 2 and Domi 2 in terms of noise. The We-Vibe might be marginally quieter thanks to the padded silicone head, but not enough that I’d recommend one over the other for discretion.

Both are considerably quieter than mains-powered monsters such as the Doxy Extra Powerful and Lovehoney Classic, which can sound like you’ve started drilling through the bedroom wall.

If noise is a priority, I’d choose the LELO Switch or Mylo wand instead. They are both noticeably quieter than either, although not quite as powerful.

Controls And Smart Silence

Controls and charging port on we-vibe wand 2

There are five buttons on the Wand 2: plus and minus to turn on and off and adjust intensity, two buttons to move between vibration patterns, and a dedicated Smart Silence button.

I particularly like that the patterns have separate controls. You don’t have to scroll through a dozen pulsating variations when all you want is a steady vibration, which is something I wish more manufacturers would understand.

You can click through the intensity levels individually or hold the plus or minus button for a smooth, gradual increase or decrease. With ten onboard levels compared with the Domi 2’s three, there’s considerably more control available without reaching for your phone.

Turning it off is slightly less convenient. You have to hold the minus button until the intensity reduces all the way to zero, which takes a little longer than I’d like – although Smart Silence makes up for this. There’s also a travel lock, activated by holding plus and minus together for two seconds.

Smart Silence is one of my favourite features. Much like the Womanizer Next and We-Vibe Melt 2, it automatically stops the vibrations when the head isn’t against your body, then resumes when you put it back. There’s a dedicated button to activate it, and I found it worked reliably throughout testing.

It’s particularly handy when repositioning a powerful wand or putting it to the side after orgasm, without having it buzzing away unnecessarily.

The We-Vibe App: Good Locally, Frustrating At A Distance

Connecting the Wand 2 to the We-Vibe app was quick and straightforward. The controls were responsive, and it remained connected even when I locked my phone or switched to another app, continuing at the intensity I’d selected.

You can fine-tune the vibrations, explore additional modes and set a sleep timer so the wand turns off after 15+ minutes of inactivity. I still prefer Lovense’s app for detailed customisation, but the Wand 2’s physical controls mean you don’t really need the app for everyday use.

Unfortunately, long-distance partner control was considerably less successful. When Jack and I tried to connect, the app insisted I was offline, despite everything apparently being connected correctly. We couldn’t get a session started.

We could probably have spent longer troubleshooting, deleting and reinstalling the app, and trying again. But frankly, we don’t get paid to do this, and we already own plenty of app-controlled sex toys that work without all the faffing about.

When you’re trying to have a bit of fun with your partner, spending ages getting the technology to cooperate rather kills the mood. So we gave up.

This doesn’t mean long-distance control won’t work for anybody, but based on our experience, I wouldn’t recommend the Wand 2 specifically for remote partner play.

It’s a shame because We-Vibe makes some excellent toys. The Nova 2 is still my favourite rabbit vibrator, the Chorus which comes with a physical remote control is a good choice for couples interested in public sex play, and the Melt 2 is my favourite clitoral suction toy for use during sex. I have the Tango X and Touch X awaiting testing, and have high hopes!

But I’ve encountered app frustrations before, including never managing to pair my Sync Lite successfully.

Having all three rechargeable wands side by side made the differences quite obvious.

They’re all excellent options, we are basically spoilt for choice – but they suit slightly different priorities.

We-Vibe Wand 2 Vs Lovense Domi 2 Vs LELO Switch

The We-Vibe Wand 2 is a great choice of magic wand if you want full waterproofing, a softer head, more physical intensity settings and Smart Silence. It’s just substantially bulkier, and I don’t think those extra features necessarily justify the size for everybody.

The LELO Switch is the one I’d choose for quietness and versatility. It’s much lighter, fully waterproof and double-ended, so you can use it for both internal and external stimulation. Its vibrations don’t have the raw power of the We-Vibe or Domi, but it’s still strong enough to be very satisfying.

I also really like the Mylo pleasure wand, but limited availability makes it harder to recommend as widely as these three.

The Lovense Domi 2 remains my favourite for sheer practicality. It’s significantly smaller, easier to hold, and transfers far less vibration into your hand. Its three onboard intensities are rather limiting, but the Lovense app offers excellent customisation and partner control. Plus it’s comfortably the cheapest of the three.

Heads of We-Vibe Wand 2 and Lovense Domi 2

If I had to sum them up, I’d choose the Domi 2 for compact power, the Switch for quiet versatility and the Wand 2 for cushioned stimulation and waterproofing.

We-Vibe Wand 2 Review: My Verdict

I genuinely really like the We-Vibe Wand 2. As a wand sex toy it does what you need it to: Delivers decent orgasms, quickly. It’s extremely powerful, beautifully padded and has some excellent features, particularly Smart Silence and the ability to adjust through ten intensity levels without opening an app.

It’s also fully waterproof, which gives it a substantial advantage over the Domi 2, and its softer head could make it a more comfortable choice for people who find concentrated wand vibrations overwhelming.

Rechargeable waterproof wand from we-vibe review

But there’s no getting away from the fact that it’s big. It’s heavier than its closest competitors, transfers more vibration into your hand and doesn’t offer a significant improvement in noise or maximum power. The frustrating long-distance app experience doesn’t help either.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely, but I wouldn’t recommend it over the Domi 2 for everybody. If compactness, price and app functionality matter most, I’d still choose the Lovense. If you want powerful, broader stimulation, full waterproofing and better physical controls, the We-Vibe Wand 2 is an excellent alternative. The Smart Silence feature in particular is worth noting.

It’s a genuinely good wand with a few practical drawbacks. And if you’ve always wanted something resembling a vibrating horse’s hoof in your bedside drawer, this might just be the one.
