The Lovehoney Classic Magic Wand is one of the most popular budget wand vibrators in the UK and if you’re looking for a powerful wand on a budget, this is probably already on your shortlist. At around £50, it promises the deep, powerful vibrations that wand toys are famous for without the premium price tag of brands like Doxy or Hitachi (now known as The Original Magic Wand, but not sold in the UK).

Is The Lovehoney Classic Any Good?

We’ve had the Lovehoney mains powered magic wand/vibrating massager for around two years now so feel confident that we can give it an honest review. We are actually on our second after we, um, wore the first one out (or possibly killed it while cleaning it) and went right back to get the same make and model again, so hopefully that tells you what we think of it!

Pros of the Lovehoney Classic Magic Wand

• It’s mains powered so you never need to change the batteries or charge it up.
• Perfect for couple’s play. As vibrators go, it is really easy to use. You don’t have to hold and press any buttons; the scroll wheel style switch gives you or your partner full control of the intensity of vibrations.
• The head of the vibrator is large so you really can’t miss the spot.
• It delivers a good range of vibration intensities from ‘just getting warmed up’ to ‘holy shit’, which is why wand toys consistently appear in our guide to the best sex toys for women.
• The head is flexible to provide comfort.
• Comes in a few different colours including black, white and purple and you can often find one is on sale if you’re not bothered about the colour.

Cons of the Lovehoney Classic Magic Wand

• You need to have a plug socket nearby – the cord is 1.8m which is long enough for most bedrooms but you couldn’t use it outside, for example.
• The head has deep grooves in it which need to be cleaned out after every use; if you’re using lube then a quick rinse under the tap probably won’t be enough to get rid of it. A toothbrush or hair pin might be required.
• Doesn’t have different pulses/patterns – if that’s something you enjoy.
• It is not waterproof. If you get the mechanics wet, it will die a sad death.
• Will overheat if used for a long time! Some people report that it overheats quickly; this isn’t normal and should be returned. Fortunately Lovehoney’s return policy is great!
• Can be a bit slippery when covered in lube.
• Isn’t particularly quiet, and by that I mean it’s LOUD. If you’re looking for near-silent sex toys, then try something like the MYLO instead; not as intense, but won’t wake up the neighbours.
• It isn’t quite as powerful as some other magic wands on the market, although definitely has enough intensity to get you seeing god.

If you don’t already have a magic wand then this classic version is a good value purchase that won’t fail you. It might not be as sleek or swanky as the more expensive models but it does the job, well and reliably.
