I admit: I was not expecting to like the Monster Pub Hulu as much as I do.

That is partly because Monster Pub’s website does not exactly inspire confidence. The product naming is strange, the reviews are odd, and the product description repeatedly talks about vibrating eggs, despite the fact that the toy I received is very much not a vibrating egg. (NB – all credit to them, they updated the website after I gave this feedback, and it now refers to the right product).

It is in fact a tiny, cute, app-controlled, USB-C rechargeable clitoral suction toy that looks more like a collectible charm than a serious sex toy. And, much to my surprise, it actually works.

Note: The Monster Pub website, Monsterpub.com, calls it various things, including the Gourd and Energetic Gourd Girl, but the packaging and app refer to it as the Monster HuLu. I much prefer Hulu. ‘Energetic Gourd Girl’ sounds like a rejected Pokémon.

So, for the purposes of this review, I’m calling it the Monster Hulu.

What Is The Monster Pub Hulu?

The Monster Pub Hulu is a small app-controlled clitoral suction toy with a silicone mouth, a hard plastic body and a removable little attachment that turns it into more of a pinpoint vibrator.

It is the smallest clit sucker I’ve tested – smaller even than the fruity novelty clit suckers or the Biird Lumii (below). It sits in the palm of your hand and is comparable in size to a makeup blender, which makes it genuinely travel-friendly rather than technically portable.

It has a hard plastic outer body with a silicone mouth around the suction opening. The toy feels solid rather than flimsy, although it doesn’t have the soft, premium silicone feel of something like a LELO or Womanizer.

First Impressions And Packaging

The packaging is actually really nice.

Given the slightly baffling website, I didn’t have high hopes but the Monster Hulu arrived in a nice presentation box with the contents split into two foil mystery bags. One bag contains the accessories, including the charger, pouch, strap and clit tapper, while the other contains the toy itself.

It feels a bit like opening one of those blind bag toys kids love, except instead of a miniature plastic dinosaur, you get an app-controlled clit sucker. Modern life is strange.

It’s playful and it gives the toy a proper sense of novelty.

The Clit Tapper Attachment

One of the most unusual features is the tiny removable attachment. It looks a bit like a miniature dummy, but it does actually do something useful. You insert it into the suction opening and it changes the sensation completely, turning the Monster Hulu from a small clitoral suction toy into more of a pinpoint vibrator.

It isn’t going to replace a proper bullet vibrator or a premium pinpoint toy, but I like that the option is there. It gives you two different types of stimulation in one very small package.

The cap is useful because it protects the suction mouth and also means you can store the little clit attachment inside the toy. I would definitely recommend doing that. The attachment can be added to the keyring/strap setup, but personally I wouldn’t trust myself not to lose it within about four minutes because it’s tiny.

Charging, Waterproofing And Cleaning

The Monster Hulu charges via USB-C, which immediately wins it points from me.

I am very tired of sex toys arriving with yet another weird little magnetic charging cable that I have to guard with my life because if it disappears, the toy becomes a decorative object. USB-C is practical, especially for travel, and means I don’t need to pack a separate charger.

The toy is also waterproof, which makes cleaning simple. Remove the clit tapper attachment if used, rinse the toy under the tap, wash the attachment separately and then leave everything to dry properly before storing it.

How Does The Monster Hulu Feel In Use?

This is the important bit, obviously and I’m happy to say that I orgasmed with it on my first, second and subsequent tries.

It may be tiny, cute and slightly ridiculous, but yes, it works.

No, it is not the same as a premium toy like the travel friendly Womanizer Next Liberty. It doesn’t have the same depth, refinement or broad intensity range. If I put this next to one of my favourite premium suction toys and judged them purely on sensation, the premium toys still win, but that isn’t really the point of the Monster Hulu.

It performs better than other small clitoral suction toys, including the novelty fruit clit suckers I’ve tested recently where it wins in terms of cuteness, portability and noise. It has the same playful appeal, but it feels more useful as an actual travel toy.

Noise Level

The Monster Hulu is quiet.

It is not silent, because no clit sucker with any actual power is silent, but it is not aggressively loud either. During daytime testing it seemed very quiet. At night, when the house was silent and every vibration suddenly felt amplified, it did seem noisier on higher settings. Basically, it’s not as quiet as premium toys, but it’s perfectly acceptable.

The Monster Pub ‘Monster Party’ App

The app is also much better than I expected. I know. I am as surprised as you are.

Connecting the Monster Hulu was refreshingly straightforward. I turned the toy on, opened the app, went to add, and connected it. No faffing with QR codes, no Bluetooth séance, no swearing into the void.

I did have to create a username, but it wasn’t connected to my email address, which I appreciated from a privacy point of view.

The app shows the battery percentage clearly, and there is a travel lock, which stops the toy from turning on until you unlock it through the app. If you are going to include a strap and suggest people might carry it around, a travel lock is very much appreciated.

You can adjust the light on the toy, which I assume is partly for battery life and partly for discretion.

The app has different modes, including Draw, Roam, Commute, Overdrive, Sentinel and Linkage. In Draw mode, there’s a slider icon that lets you control the intensity from 1 to 100 which is the control you really need. It isn’t the most obvious thing to find, but once you know it’s there, it’s useful.

Another plus: the toy stayed connected while I was doing other things on my phone. I could leave the Monster Party app, check messages or use another app, and it didn’t immediately disconnect or throw a tantrum. That makes it far more practical than an app-controlled toy that demands your full attention. The Community Section

The app also includes user-created patterns, which adds a slightly community-driven element. Then there is the community section, which is weird.

The community section feels like an unhinged Instagram full of people you never followed in the first place. I saw dinners, travel photos, giraffes, sunsets, someone on a flight, youngish-looking people taking pouty selfies and a woman called Linda who seemed to be having a lovely time.

I didn’t see anything actually NSFW, which made it even funnier. For a sex toy app, it was remarkably wholesome. Less ‘anonymous erotic playground’, more ‘why is Linda here and what did she have for lunch?’

The good news is that you don’t need to use the community section to control the toy. The actual toy controls are separate and much better than expected. The social feed is just… there.

As a toy controller, the Monster Party app is surprisingly good. As a wider social platform, it is strange and not entirely necessary.

Let’s Talk About The Monster Pub Website

I almost turned down this toy, assuming that the brand was just another white-label company, dropshipping cheap tat – but they are actually designed and made by Monster Pub and unique to them. This is at least in part because the Monster Pub website is… well.

The product page for the Hulu/Gourd/whatever you want to call it repeatedly refers to it as a vibrating egg, including lines about internal vibration and inserting or positioning the device comfortably. But the product I received is not an egg.

The reviews on the Monster Pub website also didn’t give me much confidence and I would take them with an entire Saxa factory of salt. I am not saying that Theodore Shakespeare and Oswald Edgeworth are definitely not the names of two enthusiastic reviewers, but they’d probably be more at home in an Agatha Christie novel. Many of the reviews appear remarkably generic, and several seem to describe a remote-controlled vibrating egg rather than the product I actually received.

Monster Pub appear to be better at making toys than explaining them. It is likely that, as Monster Pub is a Chinese company (this is not a bad thing, most sex toys are made in China) and the majority of their business is from China, the English website is much of an afterthought. This is a real shame. The actual product is bloody decent and deserves clearer marketing.

Is It Worth The Price?

The Monster Hulu sells for around $89 (roughly £67) with the website suggesting a much higher RRP. I’m always sceptical of inflated RRPs, and I don’t think a claimed near-$200 price point does this toy any favours. It does not feel like a $200 luxury clitoral suction toy.

If you want the best suction sensation possible and don’t care about size, novelty or app control then the Womanizer Next, LELO SONA 3 or Satisfyer Pro 2 may be a better fit depending on your budget. If you want something travel friendly and premium, try the Womanizer Next Liberty.

But if you want something tiny, cute, quiet, app-controlled, genuinely travel-friendly and surprisingly effective, the Monster Hulu has a strong case.

Monster Hulu Clit Sucker Review: Definitely Travel Friendly

The Monster Hulu is one of the most travel-friendly sex toys I’ve tested.

It’s tiny, roughly 2 inches, and charges by USB-C, so I don’t need to pack another ridiculous proprietary sex toy cable.

The strap means you could technically hang it from your bag. Personally, I will not be wandering through Heathrow with an app-controlled clit sucker dangling from my hand luggage as a jaunty travel mascot, but I can see the appeal. To most people, it would probably just look like a cute little novelty charm. If someone recognises it, frankly, they’re already in the club.

The fact it is waterproof and easy to clean , and has a travel lock, also helps. I will definitely be taking this with me on holiday.

Final Verdict On The Monster Pub Hulu

The Monster Pub Hulu is much better than the website had me expecting it to be.

It isn’t a Womanizer killer, and it doesn’t have the same premium feel, depth or refinement as my favourite clitoral suction toys. But it also isn’t just a throwaway novelty.

It is tiny, cute, quiet enough, easy to clean, USB-C rechargeable, waterproof, app-controlled and surprisingly effective. Although the Womanizer Next Liberty has since overtaken it as my favourite premium travel suction toy, the Monster Hulu remains my top recommendation if you’re looking for something significantly cheaper. The website is confusing, the app’s community section is bizarre, and the advertised RRP feels inflated, but the actual toy? Bloody decent. It’s my favourite of all the Monster Pub toys I’ve tested.

It sits somewhere between a cute collectible, a travel toy and a genuinely useful mini clit sucker, and I would absolutely take it on holiday.
