When I reviewed the mighty Womanizer Next, I described it as my favourite clitoral suction toy, and nothing has touched it since. It delivers consistently excellent orgasms, with a range of intensities and depth adjustment and from the first use it quickly became the toy I reached for most often.
It isn’t perfect, though. It’s big, the controls are perhaps a little more complicated than they need to be, it still relies on a proprietary magnetic charging cable and, while there is nothing wrong with travelling with it, it wasn’t exactly designed for life in a suitcase.
When Womanizer announced the Next Liberty, a smaller, travel version of the Next, I was very keen to try it.

In summary, the Next Liberty feels like a practical interpretation of the Next. It keeps almost everything I loved about the original while simplifying the controls, switching to USB-C charging and adding a magnetic travel cap that finally makes it feel like a toy designed to leave the house.

Design & Features
The Next Liberty is noticeably smaller than the full-sized Womanizer Next, although it still feels every bit as premium; the silicone is soft, the finish is excellent and the toy feels reassuringly solid despite its compact size.
The biggest improvement, for me, is charging. Instead of relying on Womanizer’s magnetic charging cable, the Next Liberty uses USB-C. It sounds like a small change, but it makes a huge difference if you travel regularly. Most of us already pack a USB-C cable for our phone, headphones or tablet, so there’s no longer a need to remember a dedicated charger just for your sex toy.

Womanizer has also included a magnetic protective cap. Rather than simply pushing onto the nozzle, it snaps securely into place, protecting the air pulse opening from dust, fluff, cat hair and whatever else inevitably ends up in the bottom of your wash bag. It’s a simple feature, but one I’ve praised on other travel toys.
The cap also makes the toy much less visually obvious. I’m not suggesting it’ll fool airport security, but if someone happens to glance inside your suitcase or bathroom drawer, it doesn’t immediately scream ‘sex toy’.

The Next Liberty also remains fully waterproof and comes with two interchangeable silicone nozzles, allowing you to choose whichever size gives you the best seal. Both remove easily for cleaning.
Simpler, Easier Controls
One of the most common criticisms of the Womanizer Next has nothing to do with performance, people simply find the controls a little intimidating.

The Next has separate buttons for power, intensity increase and decrease, and depth adjustment, plus one for the (fairly pointless, in my opinion) autopilot mode. Once you’ve used it a few times it’s perfectly logical, but it does have a steeper learning curve than many suction toys which have a single on/off/mode button.
The Womanizer Liberty toy simplifies everything.
There are just three buttons, making it much more intuitive to use, while still retaining one of the Next’s best features: adjustable stimulation depth. NB Womanizer calls the new motor movement ‘Dynamic Dimension Drive’. In practice, it’s the same depth adjustment introduced on the Next, allowing you to change not just the strength of the pulses but how deeply they’re delivered.
As with the Next, you can hold down the plus or minus buttons to smoothly move through the intensity levels rather than repeatedly pressing them, which makes finding your preferred setting much easier.

Even the depth indicator has been put to work, doubling as the battery indicator while charging.
They’re all small touches individually, but together they make the Liberty feel extremely well thought out.
How Does It Feel?
Would the smaller travel version actually feel noticeably less intense? Honestly… not really.
The Pleasure Air membrane is fractionally smaller than the one on the full-sized Next, and it isn’t quite as intense, but in use the difference is pretty difficult to detect.
Both toys build stimulation gradually rather than overwhelming you immediately, and both allow you to fine-tune not only the intensity but also how deeply the pulses are delivered.

After using them back-to-back, the overall sensation is remarkably similar; the difference is so small that I wouldn’t have noticed without directly comparing the two.
That’s impressive considering the £70/$100 price difference.
Is It Quieter?
At maximum intensity, the Next Liberty is also quieter than the full-sized Next.
Whether that’s because it’s fractionally less powerful or simply because of the smaller housing, I couldn’t say with certainty. Neither would be my first choice if absolute discretion is your priority though, toys such as the LELO SONA 3 (below, top) and Biird Namii (below, right) still have the edge there.

Womanizer Next Liberty vs Womanizer Next
Comparing the Womanizer Next clitoral suction toy and the Womanizer Next Liberty travel toy:
Feature | Womanizer Next Liberty | Womanizer Next |
|---|---|---|
Price | £119.99/$129 | £189.99/$229 |
Runtime | 120 mins | 240 mins |
USB-C | ✅ | ❌ |
Protective magnetic cap | ✅ | ❌ |
Interchangeable heads | ✅ | ✅ |
Smart Silence | ❌ | ✅ |
Autopilot | ❌ | ✅ |
Afterglow | ❌ | ✅ |
Controls | 3 buttons | 5 buttons |
Waterproof | ✅ | ✅ |
Warranty | 5 years | 5 years |

The full-sized Next is still my favourite clitoral suction toy, as I prefer its longer ergonomic handle, which makes it slightly more comfortable to hold. I appreciate having the Smart Silence mode available even if it isn’t something I use particularly often.
That said, the Womanizer Next Liberty gets astonishingly close and as a travel toy, it’s pretty much spot on.
If someone handed me the Liberty without telling me the price, I certainly wouldn’t have guessed it cost £70/$100 less than the original Next. Battery life has been halved compared with the full-sized Next, dropping from four hours to around two. I still found that more than enough for several sessions between charges.
I’ve also since compared five Womanizer models side by side, from the budget Starlet 3 through to the full-size Next, in my Womanizer comparison guide.
Womanizer Next Liberty vs Monster Pub Hulu

I praised the the Monster Pub Hulu for ditching magnetic charging in favour of USB-C and including a proper protective cap. They’re two simple features that make a surprising difference if you actually travel with your toys. So imagine my delight when Womanizer appears to have done exactly the same thing. The Next Liberty charges via USB-C, comes with a hard cap to keep the mouthpiece clean in your wash bag and instantly feels like a product designed by people who have actually packed a suitcase before.
The Hulu remains excellent value; it’s a cute package at a good price.
The Next Liberty simply takes that idea further, delivering an experience much closer to the flagship Womanizer Next while keeping all of the practical travel features I loved about the Hulu.

If your budget stretches to £120/$130, the Liberty is now the travel suction toy I’d recommend first. Don’t forget, you can get 20% off at Lovehoney UK and Lovehoney US using the code SEXTOYREVIEW20
Is Anything Missing?
Unlike the Next, the Womanizer Next Liberty clitoral suction toy doesn’t include Smart Silence or Autopilot mode. Personally, neither omission bothered me. Autopilot isn’t a feature I ever find myself using, while Smart Silence is nice to have rather than essential.
It also doesn’t have the afterglow feature from the original Next, which takes you to the lowest setting if you hold your finger on the ‘—’ button. If you do this on the Next Liberty, it will take you to the lowest setting, but then turn off.

If I’m really searching for criticism, it would probably be the shape. When holding it, it’s a bit like the Rose Toy or the Lemon in that it protrudes from the body rather than lying flat like the Womanizer Next or the very partner-friendly We-Vibe Melt (above, right), which means it’s not ideal for use during sex. I also prefer the feel of the longer handles, and find it easier to place them correctly, but this is a very small criticism.
Final Verdict On The Womanizer Next Liberty
I expected the Womanizer Next Liberty to be a smaller, compromised version of the Next. Instead, it feels like Womanizer looked at the original, listened to the most common criticisms and produced something simpler, more practical and considerably cheaper without sacrificing much of the experience.
If you already own the Womanizer Next, I don’t think this is an essential upgrade but if you’re deciding between the two it’s a much harder choice than I expected.

The Next remains the better toy overall thanks to its ergonomics, power and additional features.
The Liberty, though, offers a very similar performance, much simpler controls, USB-C charging, a genuinely useful travel cap and a significantly lower price.
If the full-sized Next borrowed the Liberty’s charging port and simplified controls, it would probably be my perfect clitoral suction toy.
As it stands, the Womanizer Next Liberty is the easiest premium travel suction toy I’ve ever recommended, and I’d happily use it as my main toy at home as well.
Who Should Buy The Womanizer Next Liberty (And Who Shouldn’t)?
Buy the Next Liberty if you want a premium suction toy around £120/$130, value straightforward controls and regularly travel. It’s also an excellent choice if you’ve looked at the Womanizer Next but don’t need every premium feature. If you’re not sure where it sits in the wider range, I’ve compared the Next Liberty with four other Womanizer models here.

I’d still choose the full-sized Next if you want the best ergonomics, the longest battery life and features such as Smart Silence.
Couples should look at the We-Vibe Melt, while anyone wanting app control will be better served by the Lovense Fizz.
