Womanizer is one of the biggest names in women’s sex toys, with a distinct focus on pleasure air i.e. clitoral suction toys. They have a large and expanding range of toys and you could quite reasonably wonder how different all these clitoral suction toys can actually be.

At the time of writing, prices range from around £69 for the small Womanizer Starlet 3 to £189 for the full-size Womanizer Next, with many models sitting somewhere in between. They all use Womanizer’s Pleasure Air technology, they’re all rechargeable, and they all essentially do the same job.

So what exactly are you getting when you pay more? And which is the best Womanizer model to buy?

I ended up with five Womanizer models at the same time after opening several of the Lovehoney advent calendars, so rather than reviewing them all separately, I put them next to each other and compared them properly.

I tested the budget Womanizer Starlet 3, the travel toys Liberty 2 and Next Liberty, the popular Enhance and Womanizer’s most expensive clitoral suction toy, the Womanizer Next, looking at noise levels, controls, build quality, shape and which of the extra features I actually found useful.

Broadly, the Womanizer pricing structure does make sense. The more expensive models aren’t necessarily dramatically stronger, but they are quieter, more refined and much nicer to use.

Having actually used them next to each other, this is how I would rank them:

1. Womanizer Next: Best overall

2. Womanizer Next Liberty: Best value and best for travel

3. Womanizer Enhance: Best if you specifically want vibration

4. Womanizer Liberty 2: Good basic travel option

5. Womanizer Starlet 3: Basic, functional and one to buy on sale

Unsurprisingly, this almost follows the price structure, except I would choose the £119 Next Liberty over the £149 Enhance.

What Do You Actually Get When You Spend More On A Womanizer?

After comparing them side by side, I can confirm that paying more money does seem to buy you a better Womanizer.

This isn’t necessarily because the expensive ones are massively more powerful, as the basic Starlet and Liberty 2 can both get the job done perfectly well.

What improves as you go up the price brackets is everything around that basic stimulation. The more expensive models feel more substantial, the controls become more refined and, perhaps most noticeably, they get quieter.

Better Controls

One thing I appreciate across the entire Womanizer range is that even the cheapest models give you separate up and down controls.

That might sound incredibly basic, but anyone who has used a cheap one-button clitoral suction like a Rose Toy or a Lemon toy will know why it matters.

With some budget suction toys, you find the intensity you want, accidentally press the button again and suddenly have to cycle through every other setting – including a bunch of really annoying patterns – before you can get back to it.

I absolutely hate this. Meanwhile, even the most budget Womanizer model – the Starlet 3 – has two buttons which allow you to go up AND DOWN.

That alone makes them nicer to control than many very cheap suction toys.

The newer premium models improve this further. On the Next Liberty and Next, you can hold the intensity buttons rather than repeatedly clicking them, giving you a much smoother transition between levels.

It’s a small difference on paper and a much nicer one in use.

The More Expensive Womanizers Are Quieter

This was one of the clearest differences when I switched them on next to each other.

The Starlet 3 and Liberty 2 sound very similar. They’re not horrendously loud and I wouldn’t expect the noise to travel through walls, but they are noticeable.

The Enhance is also surprisingly noisy considering its £149 price.

The Womanizer Next is much quieter. I only really find it very audible at its highest settings, despite it also being the biggest and most powerful-feeling toy here. Same goes for the Next Liberty.

Womanizer markets the Next as its ‘whisper quiet’ model, and having directly compared it with the others, this is one claim I agree with. It’s not silent, but side by side, it’s very noticeably quieter.

Depth Control Is Better Than More Gimmicks

The feature I would most happily pay extra for is Womanizer’s depth control, currently called Climax Control on the newer models.

The Next and Next Liberty let you adjust not just the intensity of the air pulses but their depth, with three different levels.

Sometimes I want a high intensity without the stimulation feeling quite as deep. Being able to change those two things independently gives me much more control than simply making the toy stronger and weaker, and this is probably the single feature that separates the Next models from the cheaper Womanizers for me.

Womanizer Next: Best Overall

The Womanizer Next is still my favourite, and by a fairly comfortable margin.

It’s big. It’s chunky. It has a lot of buttons. The power button is also flush with the body and right at the bottom, which can make actually switching the thing off more fiddly than I think a £189 sex toy should be.

And it has Autopilot. Now, I know some people apparently enjoy handing over control and letting the toy change intensity by itself. I don’t. Once I’ve found a setting I like, the last thing I want is my sex toy deciding to do something else.

But those complaints aren’t enough to knock it off the top.

The Next has 14 intensities, three depth levels, Smart Silence, Afterglow and two sizes of removable stimulator head.

Smart Silence is particularly brilliant. The Pleasure Air stimulation only activates when the toy detects contact with your body, then goes back into standby when you move it away. I didn’t realise how much I appreciated this feature until I compared the Next with the Womanizers that don’t have it.

Afterglow is another feature I actually use. Pressing the ‘-‘ button takes the Next straight back down to its lowest setting rather than abruptly stopping after orgasm.

Then there’s the general feel of it. It’s silicone covered, substantial, strong and noticeably quieter than the cheaper models.

If my house were on fire and I was apparently required to rescue one clit sucker, this is the one I’m grabbing.

Womanizer Next Liberty: The Sweet Spot?

The Womanizer Next Liberty is another great model.

It’s £70 less than the full-size Next at £119, but it keeps one of my favourite features: the ability to adjust the depth of the Pleasure Air stimulation.

It also feels a lot more refined than the Liberty 2, has smoother intensity adjustment, USB-C charging and a magnetic travel cap. It has eight intensity levels and three Climax Control depth levels.

You don’t get Smart Silence. However you hold down the minus button, the Next Liberty drops back to its lowest intensity before switching off, so you don’t have to go straight from full stimulation to nothing, similar to the Next’s afterglow feature.

For travelling, I would pick this over Next.

The shape is quite chunky, the mouth isn’t quite as easy to position, and and wouldn’t be my first choice for fitting between two bodies during sex. My only real complaint so far is that my cap has picked up some dark marks from being in my travel bag. I’d rather the protective cap picked up marks than the actual toy, though, so it’s doing its job.

If you’re unwilling to spend almost £200 – and I totally understand that! – I think this is probably the sweet spot in the range.

Womanizer Enhance: Added Vibration

I expected to rank the Womanizer Enhance above the Next Liberty. It costs more, it’s almost entirely silicone covered and it resembles a marginally smaller version of the full-size Next. In the hand, it feels much better ergonomically than the blockier Liberty designs.

It’s also probably the best shape here for using during penetrative sex.

Most importantly, Enhance does something genuinely different. It combines Womanizer Pleasure Air with a separate We-Vibe vibration motor.

You get ten Pleasure Air intensity levels, ten vibration intensities and ten vibration patterns, with the two motors independently controlled. I don’t need the patterns at all, but I do like the vibration.

Vibration can stimulate a broader area around the clitoris rather than focusing everything through the suction mouth, and I’ve enjoyed that sensation on other toys.

However when I compared them, I would still choose the Next Liberty, or pay the extra for the Next.

The Enhance is noticeably louder. You have to click through the Pleasure Air intensities rather than getting the smoother adjustment I prefer, there’s no Depth Control, no Smart Silence and no Afterglow.

It also has a fixed stimulation mouth rather than giving you the interchangeable heads available on models like the Next.

And mine is black, which attracts fluff as though this were one of its advertised features.

At £149, it sits only £40 below the £189 Next. Personally, if I already had around £150 to spend on a clitoral suction toy, I’d find the extra £40 and buy the Next. The vibration on the Enhance is nice, but I’d choose Depth Control, Smart Silence and the quieter performance instead.

If you specifically want Pleasure Air plus vibration, Enhance has a clear reason to exist. Otherwise I think the cheaper Next Liberty is the better buy. Plus, it’s included in this year’s Lovehoney Luxury Calendar, so if the that’s something you had your eye on, it’s a cost effective way of getting your hands on one.

Womanizer Liberty 2: Good, But I’d Wait For A Sale

The Liberty 2 feels noticeably more basic. It’s a compact plastic travel clitoral suction toy with eight intensity levels, a removable silicone mouth, travel lock and protective cap. It’s also fully waterproof.

It has a little light inside the stimulation mouth, which serves no particularly obvious purpose but which I rather like. Weirdly, the Starlet has one too, while the newer premium Womanizers don’t.

Compared with the Next Liberty, though, the Liberty 2 feels much cheaper.

You have to click through each intensity individually, there’s no depth adjustment and it’s considerably noisier. The hard plastic casing also doesn’t have the same premium feel as the silicone-covered models.

That doesn’t mean I wouldn’t recommend it. It still has proper plus and minus controls, it’s compact, the cap is useful for travel and you get Womanizer’s five-year warranty.

It’s also a good inclusion in the Lovehoney Couple’s Advent Calendar, where you’re obviously not paying the individual RRP of £89 for it.

But at the full price of £89.99, this is where I struggle slightly. It works well, but it doesn’t look or feel like a £90 toy when there are silicone-covered alternatives around the same price.

I’d happily buy the Liberty 2 on sale. I just wouldn’t put it at the top of my list at full RRP.

Womanizer Starlet 3: The Basic One

The Starlet 3 is extremely similar to the Liberty 2 in actual use.

The motor feels similar. The noise level is similar. The plastic build feels similar. You still get the little light inside the mouth.

It has six intensities rather than the Liberty 2’s eight, and you still have proper plus and minus controls, although the buttons are positioned on the back rather than the front.

You don’t get the Liberty 2’s protective travel cap.

It works. It’s small. It’s waterproof. It uses Womanizer’s Pleasure Air technology and comes with the same five-year Womanizer warranty.

But having tested it, I put it straight back in the box because I didn’t think there was much more to discover.

Personally, I wouldn’t pay more than around £50 for it.

At £69 RRP, you’re getting close to the price of some very decent suction toys from other established brands. If you find the Starlet discounted, though, it’s a straightforward way to get a proper Womanizer without spending much. You can also find it included in the 2026 Lovehoney Enjoy Advent Calendar.

Starlet 3 Vs Liberty 2

If you’re deciding between the two cheapest Womanizers, the extra money for the Liberty 2 does at least buy you something.

The Starlet 3 has six intensity levels, while the Liberty 2 has eight. The Liberty 2 also adds the protective cap and is much more obviously designed for travel.

Otherwise, they feel surprisingly similar in use.

If the price difference were small, I’d choose Liberty 2. If the Starlet were heavily discounted, I’d be perfectly happy with that as a very basic Womanizer.

Which Womanizer Features Are Actually Worth Paying For?

Having tried five models of Womanizer from the budget model to most expensive, here is my personal feature hierarchy:

• Depth Control / Climax Control: I feel this feature is absolutely worth having. This genuinely changes the sensation and gives you more control.
• Smart Silence: Excellent. Once you’ve used a suction toy that shuts up when you move it away from your body, it’s difficult not to appreciate it.
• Smooth intensity adjustment: This makes the toy much nicer to use.
• Separate plus and minus controls: Absolutely essential in my book and even the cheapest Womanizers get this right.
• Removable stimulation heads: Useful for cleaning and particularly useful if you prefer a different mouth size.
• Travel cap: Nice to have rather than essential, but it keeps the important end protected in your bag.
• USB-C charging: Increasingly something I appreciate because I already have approximately nine billion proprietary sex toy chargers.
• Afterglow: I like it much more than I expected.
• Vibration: Nice, and potentially a reason to choose Enhance, but I personally wouldn’t sacrifice Depth Control for it.
• Autopilot: I remain unconvinced.

Are The More Expensive Womanizers Worth It?

Having tested them all together, yes, I think Womanizer’s price hierarchy broadly holds up.

You don’t need the Womanizer Next to have an orgasm. The Starlet 3 and the Liberty 2 work fine.

But as you move up the range, you get more than extra settings; quieter motors, better materials, smoother controls, more flexibility and genuinely useful features like adjustable depth.

For me, the Next Liberty is the best balance of price and features. At £119 it feels properly premium and gives you Depth Control without requiring you to spend almost £200.

The Next is still the one I’d choose if money wasn’t the deciding factor and it’s the one that I reliably reach for. It’s big, the controls could be simpler and Autopilot is completely wasted on me, but it’s quieter, strong, highly adjustable and packed with features I genuinely use.

The Enhance is the wildcard. It’s a lovely shape and the added vibration is interesting, but its £149 price puts it in a difficult position when I prefer both the cheaper Next Liberty and the more expensive Next.

The Liberty 2 and Starlet 3 are perfectly decent basic models, but I’d be looking for a discount rather than paying full RRP.

So yes, you can spend less and still get the Womanizer experience, but after lining them all up and trying them side by side, this is one range where I do think paying more generally gets you a better toy.
