If you’re on TikTok – or social media in general – then you’ve almost certainly seen the Rose Toy clit sucker, which exploded into viral fame back in 2021 after countless TikTok creators declared it the must-have sex toy for women.
I don’t know about you, but I’m deeply suspicious of taking TikTok advice about anything, especially things that go anywhere near my genitals. Still, after seeing the Rose Toy absolutely everywhere, I eventually gave in and tried it for myself.
So, is the Rose Toy actually good, or is it just another overhyped social media gimmick with decent lighting and an aggressive influencer marketing budget?
What Is The Rose Toy?
The Rose Toy is an air pulsing clitoral stimulator, also known as a clit sucker or clitoral suction toy. If you’ve never used one before, they work very differently to traditional vibrators.
Rather than relying mainly on buzzy vibrations, clitoral suction toys use rapid pulses of air around the clitoris to stimulate both the external nerve endings and the internal structure of the clit at the same time.

The Rose Toy itself is small, discreet and made from soft body-safe silicone. It’s shaped like a rosebud, comes in various pink and red shades, charges magnetically and is waterproof.
At the top is a small opening which sits over the clitoris. Once it forms a gentle seal against the skin, the toy delivers rhythmic pulses of air designed to create intense clitoral stimulation.
Is The Rose Toy Actually Worth Buying?
Honestly? Yes and no.
Having now tried a version of the Rose Toy myself, I can absolutely see why it went viral. It does work, the suction is reasonably powerful for the price, and if you’re completely new to clitoral suction toys then it can feel very intense compared to standard vibrators.
For under £20, it’s genuinely not bad at all.
However, I also think TikTok massively oversold it. The Rose Toy is not some revolutionary orgasm machine that destroys every premium toy on the market. In reality, it sits much more comfortably in the mid-range category for me.
Compared to genuinely premium clitoral suction toys like the Biird Namii, LELO SONA 3, Womanizer Next or even the more budget-friendly Satisfyer Pro 2 (all pictured above) the Rose Toy feels less refined, less ergonomic and generally less satisfying to use long term.
The premium toys tend to have better build quality, more precise stimulation, quieter motors and shapes that fit the body more naturally. You can absolutely feel where the extra money has gone.
That said, those toys also cost significantly more. If you simply want to try a budget clit sucker without spending over £100, the Rose Toy is still a perfectly decent budget entry point.
Why Did The Rose Toy Go So Viral?
Part of the Rose Toy’s success is simply that it arrived at exactly the right time.
Back in 2021, premium clitoral suction toys from brands like Womanizer and LELO were still fairly expensive, and suddenly TikTok was full of people discovering a cute little £20 toy that could deliver surprisingly intense orgasms.
It’s discreet, doesn’t really look like a sex toy, it’s waterproof, relatively quiet and cheap enough to feel like a low-risk purchase. That’s basically perfect social media bait.
There’s also a psychological factor here. If you buy a £15 toy and it works reasonably well, you’re probably going to be impressed. If you spend £140 on a luxury toy, your expectations are understandably much higher.
What Does The Rose Toy Feel Like?
Clit suckers like The Rose Toy are often compared to oral sex, although personally I think that’s a bit misleading. The sensation is less like licking and more like rhythmic tapping or pulsing around the clitoris.
The pulses of air stimulate the clitoral nerves without direct friction, which is why many people find them more intense than traditional vibrators.
If you’ve only ever used standard vibrators before, the first experience with a suction toy can be a bit of a revelation.
What About The LEM by Nancy?
If you spend any time on TikTok now, you’ve probably also seen the LEM by Nancy, which has become the newer luxury-looking social media obsession. Dupes such as this one from Lovehoney and variour white-labelled versions of the toy are also springing up.
The interesting thing is that despite the significantly higher retail price, usually around £139 although it constantly seems to be “on sale”, the overall concept is extremely similar to the Rose Toy: compact, discreet-looking clitoral suction stimulation wrapped up in aesthetically pleasing marketing.
This is where, I think, social media sex toy marketing starts getting a bit silly.
Once you’ve used genuinely premium suction toys from brands like LELO and Womanizer, it’s hard not to notice that many viral TikTok toys are relying very heavily on influencer hype, branding and aesthetics rather than groundbreaking technology.
That’s not to say the LEM by Nancy is bad, but I do think people should be careful not to confuse “viral” with “best available”.
Buying A Rose Toy From Amazon
As with any viral product, once something becomes popular the market quickly fills with cheap copies and knock-offs.
Some of these are absolutely fine. Others are badly made rubbish with questionable materials and wildly exaggerated marketing claims.
Because of that, I would be cautious about buying random unbranded Rose Toys from Amazon, Temu, eBay or TikTok shops without checking reviews carefully first.
If you’re buying a cheap sex toy online, make sure it feels like proper soft silicone with no rough seams or strange chemical smells, and that the magnetic charging works properly.

The Rose Toy On Lovehoney
Usually I’d recommend Lovehoney over random Amazon sellers because at least you know the toy will be body-safe and backed by decent customer service.
However, somewhat bizarrely, the Lovehoney version of the Rose Toy seems to be noticeably weaker than some of the cheaper versions floating around online.
Considering the whole point of these toys is strong air pulse stimulation, that’s not exactly ideal.
Final Thoughts On The Rose Toy (And The Nancy Lem)
The Rose Toy – and probably the Lem, too – isn’t bad at all. In fact, for the money, it’s surprisingly decent, but I also think the internet collectively lost its mind over it slightly.
If you’ve never tried a clitoral suction toy before and want a cheap, cute and effective introduction to the category, the Rose Toy is still worth considering.
If you already know you love suction toys and want the best experience possible, I’d personally spend more and go for something like the LELO SONA 3, Womanizer Next or Biird Namii instead. It’s a decision you’re unlikely to regret.
Sometimes the viral thing really is brilliant. Sometimes it’s just reasonably good marketing wrapped around a reasonably good product.
